It is truly ironic that "Le Monde" should comment on American "competition" in the land of "Liberte, Egalite and Beujolais" children vie for the top ranks in his and now more often "her" classes from the lowest grades through the University. "Jean Jacques is third in the class and your only eighth - can you try harder?"
This constant head-to-head combat surely is far more intense than anything here.
